The group was chartered in 1947.  It is a local advocacy group whose focus is in the promotion and support of the education, advancement of women and children.  The fundraising for the group goes to the AAUW National Educational and the Legal Advocacy funds to sponsor fellowship, grants, community action projects and discrimination legal fees. Women from all walks of life are welcome, regardless of age or political affiliation. The only requirement is having a 2-year college degree.
